R50/53 Motoring Hell!
Hubby finally got to meet the MINI. We decided to go motoring today! Wheee! Back roads all the way to Cincinnati and back. On the way back, we got behind an elderly lady in a Country Squire Station wagon, smoking her Benson and Hedges and doing about 40 on one of our favorite twisty, hilly roads. As she finally decided to turn off from in front of us, we were confronted with an even slower, even older man in a Ford Taurus! Eeek, he must have been doing about 25! Well, we know there is a break in period for these little guys, but we HAD to get around this guy! Honking the horn and flashing the lights only scared him into going slower! So, after we passed him, the motoring was once again HEAVEN!
We are now halfway to the break in period. Can't wait to see how it goes at 6500 RPM!!!

PS-It's so fun knowing you have no where to go, all day to get there and you can go as fast as you want!!

Looking back a bit the break in period was ...diffucult.
Then all of a sudden...you are their and the fun really begins.
Here on LI there are loads of great roads.....and loads of horribly slow moving vehicles...clogging em up
Peace,
D

I'm pretty impressed with my new MCS even though I'm only 200 miles into the break-in period. Lots of power below 4500 RPM, and the dealer told me to keep it below 105 mph...holy crap, 105mph during the break-in...I've never even owned a car that would do 105, nevermind doing 135!
Bottom line...what a sweet car!

I think we're supposed to keep it below 95 mph during the first 1200 miles, jimmer! BTW, it's easy to do over 90 whilst changing lanes in SoCal!

I'm in SoCal too. Used to have to drive my Mustang 4 cyl up the 241 toll hill from Irvine to Riverside...couldn't get it over 65 mph with my foot to the floor. Now, my MINI is flying up it at 90 mph and could go faster...still under 1250 miles breakin period. Damn, it's fun to drive.
