The dealer "wouldn't" let you see "your" car? That would last maybe 2 seconds with me. Like resmini said, Just walk past them and go directly to your car and get the scoop. It's not like the dealer is a top secret military installation, give me a break. They will spout off crap like, "Our insurance doesn't allow people beyond a certain point". Grab the horse by the reins and satisfy your curiosities by asking the guy working on your car, what is going on. If the answer is unsatisfactory as to what they are doing. At least you are informed and not in the dark.

On a brighter note. I used to replace dash boards that got broken due to radio theft. It is possible to have a car returned to you that is in the same or better condition than when you first took it to them as long as someone competent is working on it. The old notion that a bunch of screws left over must be extras. Not true.

I can walk into the service area at my dealers even if my car is not there. The tech and I talk MINI everytime I'm there, plus the detailer has a cottage close to where I live,so we talk, and he sells me my detailing polish.
Now I do notice they aren't as friendly with the suits that have beamer problems. Not rude, just not buddy, buddy.Helps I guess I don't get in a snit when I walk in the door, with a problem.

sounds like a Friday 4:30 build before the Guinness Toast.
I agree with the above posts---demand perfection.
The last thing you need is some jury-rigged heating/cooling system. these things are schitzoid enough on their own without dealer intervention. best of luck!!

I had my 2005 MINI in the shop for over 2 weeks recently. It ended up being a hole in a tube coming from the supercharger. I was so upset that it took so long, and contacted MINIUSA.com and they contacted the dealer about receiving compensation for being without my MINI. The dealer agreed to pay one car payment for my trouble. Maybe you can work a similar deal?
