As far as I know, the mirror caps changed slightly between the r53 and r56 so that's why I'm posting this on the 1st Gen board. Onto my question, I've been looking around for German flag mirror caps but can't find anything. There are hundreds of options for the union jack but that just doesn't seem right to me because they are german designed and built cars. I also think it could look fantastic depending on the color of the car. Anyways, if you've seen something like this, I'd love to know. Thanks for the help!
For years folks were making custom mirror covers for years...paint, then adding vinyl for complex shapes...if you buy a used cover, just be sure the tabs on the inside are intact. You can possibly use double sided tape or another trick as a workaround, but best if you just start with good ones....
With a British heritage, the Union Jack is popular....German flag..not so much...but to each his own...
MINI's are (were about "you-ification")till recently, so hopefully folks don't judge you too harshly....

Reason: Fixed auto correct craziness!!
I guess you guys are right about it technically being a British built car and I get the heritage but it just seems weird to put the union jack on a car from BMW. Would you put the union jack on your Shelby Cobra?

Lamborghini is part of the VW group. The Murcielago actually shares a motor with the Audi R8 V10+..but they're still considered Italian supercars.
Perhaps with the F56 generation that had little no to British engineers on the project, it's another story, but I think the bigger point is that the general MINI culture emphasizes self-expression.
If you feel like you're driving a German car, go for it. I personally think it's unique and a great idea.
I see the mirror caps, and stripes as a wonderful way to communicate self-expression and individuality. For me? I haven't found a rear view mirror cover painted like a Texas flag, so my plan is to buy a cover and have it repainted that way.
