R50/53 Thoughts & Reactions at 2,600 miles.
Sharing my 2,600 mile thoughts and reactions.......
-my 2002 dark silver MCS had brought me nothing but happiness so far
-glad I chose the 16" V-spokes that take some of the bump out of the ride
-just a couple of minor bothers like the a brief cold weather hesitation not bad
enough to take in yet for the CD31 update.....and the hatch latch thing that's
really nothing at all...glad I didn't get a sun roof
-mileage getting a little better with each new tank of premium gas
-it opened up and felt surprisingly smoother beginning at 1,600 miles
-don't like how quickly the brake dust accumulates on the wheels
-the rubber mats...front, rear & boot were a wise choice
-since immediate treatment the all-black leather seats have been perfect
-this car is as fast and responsive as any I will ever need
-Zaino's car polish has it looking mighty fine
-a duster provides a good, quick cleaning in between washes
-the standard radio is terrific...easy to set to my tastes
-the sun visor CD holder and glove box organizer I bought were great
investments
-driving gloves will come in handy during the winter
-it was worth following break-in specs....and then let her rip
-THIS DRIVING MACHINE IS A REAL EYE CATCHER AND IS EVEN MORE FUN TO
DRIVE THAN IT'S LOOKS!!!!!!!!!! i'M sTILL iN LoVe.

>>"the more you wait, the better the outcome gets"

That logic does not work for me. My feeling is that the outcome of driving a new MINI is the same regardless of the wait, however the number of sleepless nights waiting for it to be built is increased the longer you wait. . . .
And along with those driving gloves, make sure to get a sweet pair of real driving shoes, since your feet control the vehicle as much as your hands. . . .
Try these Piloti's on for size! I just got a pair of the grey Monacos and its very nice to drive in a pair of shoes that are made for pushing pedals as well as walking. Pretty cool flash intro to their site too!

and the hatch latch thing that's
>> really nothing at all...
Take out the 2 plugs on either side of the latch. There you will see 2 Torx bolts, size T30. Loosen them a bit and slide the assembly about 1/8" to the passenger side and re-tighten. Then apply a wee bit of Lithium grease to the catch on the hatch. My hatch problems have never returned.
