What to do with the plastic part on the timing chain tensioner?

Hey all,

Possibly a dumb question, but are you supposed to remove the plastic pointed part on the timing chain tensioner before installation, or leave it on, and facing the bolt?

In Mod Mini's video, he shows the pointy end facing the bolt, but when he actually installs it into the car, you can't see it.

The drawing on Mini Mania's site shows the same orientation, but with the pointed plastic part missing.

Thanks!
