I know changing the gauge faces to fancy new ones is a common mod on r53's, and i am trying to use the information in the guides to do this to fix my speedometer. what i need is a picture of the front of the speedometer without the face on it. All instructions i can find only show it with the new one then the old one. i want to get a look at that digital screen in the middle from the front side.

I took mine apart but didn't the face off because i hadn't seen any instructions for taking the needles off beforehand. i would just rather take my speedometer apart 2 times rather than 3.

Also, if anyone is smarter than me about these displays, the number isnt stored in the display itself right?

What do you mean by the numbers stored in the display? I think the center unit (speedo, nav, and chrono) all store the VIN, mileage, and other info for the car.

i.e., if you replace your center nav or chrono with a used unit, the mileage on the steering column gauges will be from the donor car.
