CVT gearshift moves without pushing button
I noticed today my CVT tranny shifter can move from N to D and D to N without pushing the shifter button.
Is this normal?

Just checked the wife's '02 Cooper CVT with 25K miles. It does it too, so it is normal.

I know that the answer's 'yes' (per 2perCooper & Cooper4us) but I'll go do this on mine in a sec as I'm about to leave work. Will reply tonight about it after a buddy o' mine and I play some twilight golf. TGIF ~ yes

I don't know why I pushed the shifter and what not. I guess just cause I like autos that don't have the darn click button. Like the Benz ML.

The pusher is pretty much just there for locking it into the park place so it doesnt slip on by accident
Mine does the same thing

you only need the button to get out of park and into reverse. It comes in handy so you don't need to look at the floor to see what it is in.
