R53 power steering fuse

I believe my power steering pump has failed. I hear noise from the power steering pump even when the ignition is off. I just replaced this ps pump a few weeks ago, and now it has now again failed. It has caused my battery to die as well. I would like to isolate the power steering in the meantime. Which fuse should I remove? Is it the 100A fuse? or is there a fuse for the PS control board that I should remove instead? appreciate any help.

Just giving you the heads up that the Power steering pump and fan is under recall right now for r53's. Just got mine replaced. May want to look into that.

As I understand, the recall covers only up to 2005 model and there is also a limit on the mileage. I have 2006 R53 and 150,000 miles which I believe excludes my car from the recall unfortunately.

Yeah, I think the recall is only up to 2005, but the recall doesn't have a mileage on it. The extended warranty has a Mileage cap, but the recall doesn't. Hopefully they will open the year window a little further. You can report it to the DOT and maybe it will help with that.

When you installed it did you make sure to bleed all of the air out of the system? Might not be it as you hearing it with the ignition off does sound like a pump issue. See if this list may be useful HERE. You're sure the noise you're hearing is from the pump? If the pump is your issue again, most of the time when you purchase one, depending on where you did, they come with a parts warranty. Check and see what warranty info is for the pump you purchased.

The reman ps pump worked for about 3 weeks then it failed. it stays on even after engine has been turned off. I removed the 100Amp fuse in the meantime so I do not discharge the battery or risk any possible electrical fire.
This reman has a lifetime warranty but it still sucks as it is time and money lost in labor and fluid.
