I've been looking hard at them for the last few weeks and I have found a few that I like. But what is a decent deal? So far the best one seems to be an 05 Cooper S, 130k. Clean title, $4500. Car had a bubble under the tail light, drove good though. Haven't bit the bullet yet, what should I be aware of other than the mushrooming. Thanks!

I will be driving the car as a daily, about 65 miles highway everyday.

 

The rust bubble might be covered under the 12 year warranty depending on dealer inspection.

 

Rust will probably be covered, a lot of miles for a car your going to daily. Just make sure it's had good maintenance and you should be fine. Keep some money aside for repairs however.

 

I suggest reading up on the buyers guide HERE to learn about common problem areas with specific year R53's. Check for coolant leaks at the coolant tank/hoses. Oil leaks, mushrooming, LCA bushings, rust, powersteering pump. You'll want to get the vehicles service history to see what maintenance has been done or what will need to be done when you purchase it. Good luck and if you need anything just give me a shout.
