Thursday night had an appt and when I was done, I closed the door and heard a clunk inside the door. Put the window down but then wouldn't go back up heard ugly noises coming from inside the door too. Saturday took off door panel and poked around and definitely seems that the regulator is done but the motor works. Looks like a real PIA to replace and called around for part. Anywhere from 90 to 170 (tax and shipping too) not including Dealer which I knew would be astronomical.
Found a Mobile Window Repair Place in Pasadena that will install new assembly complete for $199. Told me on the phone that he has done a lot of Minis...lol. Also only takes him 45-60mins to do. Figure I will have him do it and watch so, if it happens again or the passenger side goes, I will know how. I am a big guy with big hands (6'5" & 11/XXL Gloves) so don't want to chew up my hands just to find out I need to have help.
I figure $199 isn't too bad considering how much just the regulator is.
I currently have cardboard holding my window (which is doing pretty well) until I get this done
I will let you know how it went after complete.
Just make sure he's installing a quality regulator replacement so you don't have an issue with it again. We also have a DIY that can help you with the regulator replacement HERE under the tech info tab and at the bottom under Body, Chassis and Interior. Otherwise, for the part and price of install, that's a very good deal.
