Roommates for my new pulley

Hey NAM!

So i just got my Cravenspeed 175 supercharger pulley in with NGK cold range plugs, new plug wires, and a shorter belt.

Before I go in and install it, what would you recommend I do along with it?

2% crank pulley? Lightweight one maybe?
Tensioner stop?

Anything?

Thanks for the help!

You don't want a 2% overdrive crank pulley with a 17% reduction supercharger pulley.

I agree with no 2% with the 17% SC Pulley.
How many miles on your car?
If a lot of miles and the belt tensioner has not been replaced, I would replace the belt tensioner. No cheap but good insurance and a good time to replace.
The tensioner stop is an OK idea but there are issues. I first used a slotted type but it rattled. I then used a cable type but when I replaced my tensioner I found out the cable had pulled out of the crimped end. A common problem with the cable type. So now I do not use a tensioner stop, figuring that I replaced the tensioner and it should be good for many miles.

theres a whole list of threads on the battle of the lightweight crank pulley, you could run with a 2%, just keep an eye on your coolant temps, and don't stay at redline as often. the total of 19% tends to just create heat higher up in the RPM, since the efficiency of the S/C becomes almost nothing. tensioner stop not necessary. and if you wanted, you could replace the tensioner it self

I'd check your tensioner and idler pulleys and be done. There are diminishing returns, and other issues when you spin the supercharger faster and faster. Remember to replace your belt about twice as often with a reduced pulley than you would with a stock pulley (I recommend every 20-30k miles).

Thanks for all the info folks!

The car only has 40k miles on it.

I'll skip the crank pulley, and I'll look into a new tensioner in the future.

Thanks again!

Agree, since you'll be in there you could do the belt tensioner and tensioner stop here (you have pretty low miles though) as the OEM belt tensioner dampener is very well known to cause lots of problems.
