Releasing rear seatbelts

I bought some used seatbelt for my r53. I cannot get them to unroll, and cannot install them.

Anyone know a trick to this?

Hmm, I suppose they are broken. It is odd to me that both would have the same problem.

You have to mount them or at least hold them in the same position they mount in to get them to release. They are designed to lock when upside down or an accident.

interesting. I tried holding it upright, with no luck. I'll try bolting them down.

just to follow up. Seatbelt need to be held at nearly a 45 degree angle.
