R50/53 IE camber plate durability(?)
IE camber plate durability(?)
Hi all, after reading till my eyes blurred I have not come up with an answer to my question so here goes. After reading dozens of posts regarding the IE fixed camber plates (I have a 2005 Hyper Blue Metallic, Cooper S, R53, affectionately known as Griffer) I bought some and I am installing them (stay tuned, pun?) but I was just wondering how long can I expect these things to last. Are they good for the next 100,000 miles or will I need to change them out every 50,000 or so when I replace the shocks/struts or is this something that should last as long as the car (I plan on driving the wheels off this thing!!!)
Just curious, does anyone have experience with these things failing/wearing out? Of course I will tell you my experiences as I have them but for now...
Thank you in advance for any assistance or war stories.

Right, the strut mount is welded, I'm guessing, to a single plate of steel, nice and thick, so I am not worried about the plate portion of the part ever wearing out, not at least for the first million miles. It is the strut mount, the bearings, etc, that I am curious about. In comparison, what is the typical expected life of a Lemforder strut mount?
I would imagine the strut mount lasting longer than without the plates.... I think that's what your asking? since most of the failures of the strut mounts have the mushrooming of the strut tower itself. this would be alleviated from the IE fixed plates
