I just picked up a used 05 R53 and the belt squeaks and squeals just a little bit. I thought I would check out the belt and replace it but was greeted with this adjustable looking blue tube attached to the factory tensioner. Can anyone ID it? and what is the best way to go about removing it to install a new belt? I'm assuming this puts constant pressure on the failed tensioner to keep the belt tight. The issue is that it looks like it is almost crooked or pushing the tensioner and its pulley to the side by a small amount. Or maybe this is proper and I have never seen it before and need to simple tighten or loosen it to adjust the belt.

Thoughts? I have had no problems replacing belts on my other R53s with stock tensioner setups.

It IS an LOTF 05-06 damper kit

It doesn't mount o the tensioner at all then.... interesting... thew car is 100% bone stock minus this one piece.

In theory to change the belt I could just unbolt this from the frame and be good to go to replace the belt.

Here is another one I found. Mine is mounted the same way. Supposedly makes takeoff smoother instead of lurching...
