Measurement?

I've tried to look for a Mini in town and can't seem to locate one. What I need is a measurement inside the Drivers Side door opening. From just below the upper hinge to just below the latch. Checking my Drivers side it measures 44.5" (or 44 1/2"). Measuring the Passengers side on my MCS it's 44.750" (or 44 3/4"). I think the drivers side should measure the same. If one of you Good Mini owners would measure your drivers side opening I'll owe you one.

I think I've lost a 1/4" in the drivers side opening. I'd like to get it pulled next week and give the frame shop the correct dimesion.

Thanks,

Mike

Not sure where you're taking the measurement inside the Drivers Side door opening. Are you going the width of the opening or from top to bottom? And how in the world could you have lost a 1/4" in the drivers side opening?
Charles

Edit:
I am assuming your measurements are the width of the door opening. My MCS 03 are approximately 44 5/8" both openings. It's not easy to get precise measurements with a steel tape but, that's the best I could do.

Thanks Charles.

I didn't say width did I, but you were correct. 44 5/8" sounds pretty good. I'm glad you checked both sides.

I hope to get mine pulled 1/4" (or less) next week so I can start putting her back together again.

Shouldn't a reputable frame shop have these measurements? Also I dont think they go by door opening measurements, but standard reference ponts on the frame/body.

Agreed. It would make me really nervous if the frame shop asked me to find this out from my buddies!

I am the body shop, but I don't have a frame machine. In the shop software that's out there (currently) the Mini listing does not have measurements. I also have the dealer (BMW) Mini software and no measurements listed there either soooo... gotta measure something. In the light rear hit (on the left taillight) the pannel went forward a small amount. It's only off about 1/4" and I don't want to jack the opening to get the 1/4 back. The Mini is built pretty light!

Thanks,

Mike
