R50/53 Consumer Reports September Issue
I really don't get the CR hype of Hondas. (don't have any experience with Toyotas, so can't comment on that)
Yes, I know MINI has had problems, but so far my MINI has been doing better than all three of the Hondas we've had. Our CRV just got its 3rd recall, and all three are safety related.....

It's a blessing to know that the MINI is quite good and doesn't get recognized or the demand would be far outdo the supply.
It's already pretty hard to find a MINI and wait times are bad enough not to need CR's endorsement.
Remember, CR is interested in cars they can recommend for the masses. Hardly a respectable sports car magazine.
CR likes the Accord and Camry. Enough said.

Does Accord or Camary have consumer threads for their August builds, July builds, etc.?
Jsun is right. During the first two years of the MINI we had our shares of problems. And I believe CU wasn't favorable in their evaluation of the car. But things have changed, and they unfortunately look on reliability more than fun because they have to appeal to the masses.
My take on this is that if you want to learn more about a particular make of car, read the enthusiast car magazines, not CU, and also check out car owners forums. It's amazing what you find out about other brands in these forums.
