I've seen the billet cupholder, but I am not a big fan of drinkholders that are down by the floor. The new Mini holder is mounted up high, where it won't be in the way of the driver's leg, and will allow you to grab the drink while driving without taking you eyes off the wheel. Maybe the answer is a billet cup holder that attaches to the new mounting bracket, rather than one of the existing lower cup holders. Only time will tell if the new cup holder is durable. On another thread, people were complaining about the Minifini unit, and getting warranty replacements when it started swinging like a gate. At least this new unit should be warranteed!

I wonder if those of us held up at the VPC in Charleston were lucky enough to get the new cup holder. It may not be the bet quality but it certainly looks better then the black plastic thing.

By the way, I do floss, but not daily.

Test drove a 2005 MCS at Flow MINI yesterday, which had just arrived a few days earlier and it has the old style cup holder.

My HB/W MCS made it to the dealer from the SC VPC yesterday and it is still sporting the older cupholder. Still trying to decide whether or not to leave it there since I don't drink in the car and it looks tacked on.

Does anyone happen to know the part number for the new cupholder? I would actually like to use it for my ipod and belkin tunedok. I like the idea of having it higher up on the down tube. Looking down and trying to find an album/song on the ipod can be scary at times.

I got my 2005 MCS from John Roberts in Dallas. They were charging over sticker in late 2002 when I got my 2003 MCS, so I bought my first one at Roadshow in Memphis.

Since then, I've had great service from JR's in Dallas and I paid MSRP for my HB/W MCS. This car is so much better than even my 2003 that I'm amazed. It drives better, suspension feels better, no rattles, etc., etc., etc. It's only day 1, but I am truly impressed with what the MINI folks are doing.

Cup Holder Frustration

I'm new and jumping right in to the cup holder conversation. I have to say that it really IS a bad design flaw... though it doesn't make me love my Mini any less. I mean, NO ONE Is perfect right? And when I saw my best friend's Jetta cup holder, which looks neat at first blush (looks like a CD player, you push a button and it pops out and unfolds), until you want to change your CD out (the player is under the cup holder) and you have to take your drink out, close the holder and then deal with the cd swap. So we're not the only ones with bad cup holders. Which brings me to my question:

Has anyone seen these cup holders at another place for less money? Cuz WOW is that a hefty price tag. I saw one on ebay that didn't sell and then another one on ebay that sold for like 103 USD. So this is the cheaper of the two places... but has anyone seen them elsewhere? This is the first and only cup holder I've seen that I actually liked. Let me know what ya'll think! I have black interior and I'd get the flat black ringed, with silver screws.

Flossing... I dunno, I had this deep cleaning done and now my teeth are so sensitive if I floss or use strong mouth wash, for days after I can't eat anything that has the remotest warm or cool temperature. Its ridiculous... I need to call my dentist and find out what's up with that!!!

That is much nicer looking; and it solve my biggest complaint w/ the current design... that it gets in the way of your passegers knee when you need to go up to 5th gear.

I have the old cupholder in my 04 MC, and I love it. It's one of the best features in the car. IMO, the new cupholder is useless and BUTT-UGLY.

Actually I did find the dealer on EBAY and when asking him about it he indicated that the one he had up sold for like 102.00 and then he was going to list another one. So I don't think he has a "buy now" feature and by the look of it I'd wind up paying more if I buy it from him on Ebay. And I am actually considering getting both but I don't know if it's overkill? But I too think they look REALLY good and definitly dont want anythign cheap looking. But honestly, coming back from a trip where myself and my passenger had to fight over the rear cup holder is just stupid. I find myself buying small drinks or cans of soda now. Maybe that's healtier anyway??? LOL

Thanks! xoxo Kimmie
