I've done some research on meth injection, and it sounds like you can get a pretty decent setup for under $400. Most of the guys I see running the meth injection also have custom tunes setup to take advantage of the methanol.....more timing! I know that running more timing, and a cooler intake charge will give you more power.

But.....do any of you guys have a meth injection setup on your R53 and run the same tune you had BEFORE you added the meth injection? I'm assuming that this way, the only gains you actually see from the meth injection are cooler intake temps/ What kind of power gains does that make?

I guess the simple version of my question is this......without a custom tune designed to take advantage of the meth injection......is a meth injection system worth the money?

 

it would essentially act like an intercooler, a really good one. since the intake temps would never see the area where timing would be pulled, it allows you to keep your power. you may get a bit more power, although youll be running richer, but youll have a higher octane boom.


if you tune for it, that's when you make the stupid power.


especially on the hotter days, that is when youll see this make a difference

 

You can run a meth kit on the same tune, just a smaller jet, It will keep the air intake temps down.
I do that with my car.
Running a Aquamist HFS2 its been perfect.
