sun roof leak promblems fixed but still have problems

I replaced the BC1 and most of the electrical problems seem to be corrected, but I'm still having issues with the brake lights coming on after the key is removed from the ignition. After about 5 minutes they go off. The other issue is tachometer does not light up or function. I read somewhere that if you replace the BC1 It has to be programed by a Mini dealer. Does anyone know if that is the case and does BC1 control the tachometer?

Yes , MINI has to program a new one. Might be the issue why other things still don't work. BCM controls dash lights , exterior lights and some of the dash components.

Thanks for the info. Another question I have, are Mini dealers the only ones who can program the new BCM? The reason I ask is that I live 100 miles from the closest Mini dealer and they are the dealer I contacted originally about the sun roof leak and subsequent electrical problems. They said they had never heard of anyone with those issues and the when pressed did say they had heard of the issue but they were rare. To say the least my confidence in their credibility is lacking.

MINI dealerships and some indy shop guys who have the coding ability. You would have to check around.

Yea, they heard of them. The person you contacted might be a front desk person. Call them again. Talk to service Main person.
