M7 intercooler or Ebay

Hello everyone. I was thinking about replacing my R53 intercooler to the DFIC. There is a huge price difference of $1,000 between the two. Please let me know your thoughts.

M7 $1200

eBay $180

Neither...
Get a GP...along with the diverter, etc...
The GP IS THE ONLY ONE EVER shown to have any real gain....even then there are many other places the $$$ is better spent to make more HP for less $$.
Heck many aftermarket coolers do WORSE....a SC car is NOT like a turbo...changing the IC is not instant power, and the volume of air is MUCH MORE LIMITED....

Zippy, thanks I'll look that up now.

Any other suggestions?

honestly, the DFIC is a good idea, but doesn't perform. the airtec has some good claims but it really only overseas.

the best way to have reduced IATs is with water/meth injection.

but the stock is good for most daily activity. whereas the GP is the stock with 2 extra rows. which makes it a slight pain when you want to do plugs =)

Based on the air flow thru the scoop the DIFC flows more cool air. We hope you enjoy your car and MINI.

I can't believe how much the price of this intercooler has been jacked up ... $1,200 (the cheapest I could find) for a new intercooler plus brackets and another $169 for the DDM diverter

I'm not even sure a used one at $950 is money well spent.

That's what I was thinking. At the same time I understand you get what you pay for but cost to make and effectiveness of the product is another consideration

Thanks for the info everyone
Keep post coming

the dollar per HP on a new intercooler like that is very high, since technically only a smaller intercooler will give you more power..(less volume to fill) but will heat up faster and pull timing. whereas a larger intercooler takes away some power and response but you keep the power longer.....

or get more power, and keep the iats down with water/meth.

another option is a intercooler sprayer. or a complete new fabrication of the intake system.

the DFIC is a great idea (looks good too) and would have to be paired with the exit scoop as well, but this system is really only gunna help you on the track.

the GP used to be 1/2 the price about a year ago, but still very pricy

Thanks Salty.

Where can I find more information about the intercooler sprayer? What set up do you work with?

well intercooler sprayers can be high dollar and they can also be super cheap. depending on the system you want, you can technically build one for less than $20. A garden weed sprayer with a flat nozzle that you hand pump. or can go as high as the celing and get a separate tank with electric pump with a switch.

for the cheap build =)

they work, but can make things a bit messy ahah
