I have an anthracite headliner on my 2001 BMW that I had to fight to with BMWNA to get. What I find most noticable about dark cars not having one is how the inside of the A-pillar (either side of the windshield) stands out. Since the outside of the A-pillar on all Mini's are black, I think the color of the headliner makes a big deal even to the look of the outside of the car.

 

I like the look of the Anthracite Headliner but, wonder if it will make the interior room look smaller. I have the anthracite interior and am very happy with it.

 

I picked up my 05 MCS 2 days ago - ordered Anthracite headliner and since I was in week 28 build and on the dock by Thursday of that week, I thought for sure I would get one. Alas, my headliner is NOT Anthracite and my MA says NO ONE got one on the 05 models. I questioned him closely cause I really didn't want the light silver I ended up with and he said there is not an 05 MCS in the US with an Anthracite Headliner. Does anyone know differently ??

 

yes, check out many of the photos of newly delivered cars. the dealer just said that so you would shut up and go along and take delivery.

Mt. View MINI has several anthracite headliners in their '05s.

 

(ZIA) is the interior color option for anthracite.
(4AA) is the headliner option.

They do not come together.

It sounds like somebody goofed. It is bad when the public knows more about the cars the the M.A.'s

I think your only course of action to get one is if you have proof that you ordered one. When I ordered my car I speced it out on the MINIUSA sight and had them sign it. The problem with you doing this is MINIUSA hasn't taken the time to update their websight with a 2005 configurator. They were too busy building "CONFIGURE YOUR OWN MINICOOPER ROBOT" Time they sould have spent getting the websight up and running.

 

OK, I received an e-mail from Mini USA confirming that they have deleted the anthracite headliner option due to cost issues. When I questioned why it was not being offered as a cost option like in other markets, the Customer Relations and Services Representative stated they would have liked to have seen the cost option offered but had no further information available as to why the decision was made not to do so. The CRSR then went on to say that they had "documented your suggestion in our records for review". Whatever that means ... maybe they have started their own internal petition?

Might I suggest that everyone who would like to order this option contact Mini USA via their website and make their wishes known? Just go to miniusa.com, click through all the eye candy, and click on "CONTACT & FAQs". Then select ">Email" under "Contact Us" on the left menu bar.

Here's a copy of the e-mail I just sent :smile:

"Mini USA PLEASE give us the Anthracite Headliner back! I don't care if it's a cost option like the rest of the Planet.

It's bad enough to not get the leather/cloth and cloth options the rest of the world gets, but to tease us with the Anthracite Headliner and then take it away is plain cruel!"

Based on the feedback found in this thread I've started a poll to assess the reinstatement of this option and to establish a price point at which people would be willing to purchase the option (if it isn't offered at no charge) . Based on the feedback in the this thread/poll I'll forward this to MINI to see if this is something that we can get reinstated.

hey its actually a cost option in australia, the anthracite headliner that is..
its a costs of $300 AUD for the option, i was going to get it (if its for free, would look good in a PW/B mini) however i have later consider that it isn't worth that much money (instead i can get the driving lights for around the same cost :D )

We, the undersigned MINI enthusiasts and owners, request that, as is offered in Europe and the rest of the world, MINIUSA provide all North American buyers of MINIs, the option to choose the ANTHRACITE HEADLINER, when ordering our new MINIs. We do not understand the arbitrary way in which it was offered to us only briefly, then removed as an option. Please reinstate this attractive choice to us.

Well, I went ahead and ordered my MCS on Friday for January delivery (waiting for LSD), so I hope we can get this changed before then!

 

I called today and spoke with a real person. Besides telling me that it was completed and ready for shipment, I had him run through the list of options on the car. "Anthracite Headliner" was there. I added it late so I wasn't sure it made it.
