P1687 and P1125 code issues

So my R53 MCS has been acting funny lately. Acting funny in a way that I've never experienced nor can really articulate what it actually is doing. I drive alone quite a bit so when it happens, I don't ever have someone around to see that I'm not crazy.

When I take to O'Reilly to have them pull the codes, P1687 and P1125, and their system cannot identify what the exact meaning of the code is. All they can provide is a lengthy list of possible things to fix, which basically does nothing for me.

I'm wondering if anyone on this forum has experienced either of these codes and perhaps can lend me some suggestions before I have to take it to the mini dealer to have them determine the cause of the code.

Your thoughts are most welcomed! I hope it's something not too major.
Thanks!

I know this is nearly 10 years old but i’m now having the exact same symptoms with the same codes. If you still have an account here do you remember what fixed this? If not do any other users have any fixers?

What are the symptoms your having ???
If I recall correctly, I had these same codes come on when I had a bad/failing throttlebody. Car wouldn't respond correctly to throttle input , would occasionally die at idle and had poor acceleration and choppy idle that would come and go..
key on in 3rd position , push down the gas pedal and hold for 30 seconds, while holding down the gas pedal turn back and remove the key and once the key is removed then release the gas pedal. You SHOULD hear your throttlebody make a humming noise followed by a click signaling it correctly reset.
try to do it in a quiet place free of outside noise , have your window down and hood open and you should clearly hear it. If you DONT hear it your throttlebody us junk , if you hear it and the car then fires up good and idles good but as soon as you give it throttle input , if the problems immediately come back , your throttlebody is failing and is reacting slow to throttle input.

Hiya,
The symptoms im having is car starting and running fine but then a mile or two of driving and it drops into Limp mode, EML and check engine light on, Revs capped at 2,000. Not sure if related but I also have the dreaded Yo-Yo acceleration when around 5000 revs in 5th/6th gear. Like stated when I pulled the codes got both P1687 and P1125. I've installed a new BPV since I was advised that could fix the yo-yo. The EML and check engine limp mode came before then seemed to dissapear for 500 miles or so when I was on a trip so I'm very confused. Gave the codes to 1320Mini they told me either Wiring harness, Throttlebody or BPV. Obviously Throttlebody and Wiring harness going to cost a lot more and they didnt seem too sure. The car is at work at the moment (Luckily im a mechanic so can use the lifts but never had experience with Minis) but I can try to reset the throttle like you said.

New throttle body in from BMW directly. Cost me £300 fitted it myself in 8 minutes. All lights gone off and car is finally performing at max power again wheel spinning first two gears! Also fixed the yoyoing i was having thank you so much for the recommendation. When i contacted a mini “specialist” 1320 mini they told me crank pulley or wiring harness quoted £900 but didn’t even mention throttlebody you’ve saved me so much money thank you.
