My 06 S decided to blow out the spark plug on cylinder 1. I was able to slightly tighten it and drove 60 miles home. From my researches time-sert is the best solution over helicoil.

2- I’m thinking about doing all 4 cylinder at once so I won’t have to deal with this anymore. Good idea?
3- Which 1 step colder spark plug do you recommend as I plan on replacing all four.
4- Any recommendations for spark plug boot? Currently using MSD ignition.
Thanks!
1. 7mm seems awfully short. The length of the plug is ~19mm IIRC. That kit will work, but it seems awfully pricey. I had good luck with the kit NAPA sells. It was an emergency and I was 800 miles from home, but their tap was sharp and the inserts were steel. Kits from other stores used aluminum inserts which kind of defeats the point IMO.
2. I think this is overkill, and gives you 4 more chances to screw something up. I too had the same thought when I did mine. But if anything, this experience will encourage you to check your plug torque more often. Ever since this happened once ~5 years ago, I've never had a plug come even remotely loose.
3. NGKBKR7EIX. NGK 2667. My go to plug for boosted applications.
4. Never had an issue with OEM. Lots of people hate on MSD, not sure why. But I don't see why its needed either.

Thanks, much appreciated! It is pricey indeed. Do you happen to have a link or description of the Napa kit that worked for you? I need to figure out the insert length as 7mm was the one recommended on time-sert webpage.

Because they have been known to blow the stock dme/ecu ignition mosfet/driver dwell time etc

Were you running stock plugs?
I use BKR7EQUP aka JCW plugs, they are one step colder than the stock R53 plugs. I never had an issue with blowing them out of the head because it's basically a stock plug.

Didn’t check the model on what I currently have when it was out but I’m sure it was NGK. Will check later.
