I called 1-866-ASK-MINI today since I have a production number that I was told is for Sept (74666xx). This is the number that Mini2.com says to call on their site to get the production week. I gave them a call today and was greeted by a woman with a thick New York accent who said something like:

"Hello this is MINI who are your trying to reach?"
I replied "I don't know I have a production number and wanted to see if I had a build week yet."
After two attempts she said "This is an order center if you don't know who you are trying to reach I can't help you." <end of call>

So, who am I trying to reach?

Also, are production #'s random or is there a correlation between the numbers and the order that they are built?

You must have called the wrong number. Did you accidentally call 866.MINI.USA by any chance? I did that once by accident. You should be greeted by an automated male voice. If it's during business hours, you have the option to say "Customer Service" - if not, you can choose "Vehicle Production Status" to hear an automated response.

Doh I'm dyslexic hahaha! I called the correct number and I found out that my car is going to be finished end of August while the broker I ordered from said September production and probably near the end!

I informed the nice lady at ASK MINI that she made my day!

Also, that is probably one of the best automated systems I've ever used. Kudos to MINI!

Owner's lounge said order accepted. ASK MINI gave me a production week. I think the lounge lags the human operators.
