CD player skips....

I have an 2003 MCS with the HK stereo and everytime I play a CD it skips...alot. Whether I'm driving or sitting still. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks

have you tried cleaning the player? If that doesn't do the trick I would have it looked at.

Should be under warranty - I've read a few posts from people who had the same problem and it required a new HU. I'm sure that the dealer will try a laser-cleaning disc first, but hey, thats what warranties are for. Most cars only warrant the radio for 12 months just because of problems like this. The Mini warranty covers the radio for the full 4 yrs/50,000 miles, so take advantage of it!

Dumb question, but does it skip with every CD, or only one in particular....? I created a CD from some of my MP3, and it skipped like hell. Later on I burned another CD using a lower record speed (like 8X) and this time it worked like a charm.

I've had a couple home-made CD's skip, but none of my store-bought ones do.

I would invest in a CD player cleaning kit, available at Tower Records, Good Guys, Circuit City, etc. They are pretty inexpensive, and do a good job. Usually, skipping is caused by a little dust on the reader of the player. Also, make sure your CD's are clean, and don't have any fingerprints or dust on them.
