Here the link to them all DSC or ASC , you need to determine what system you need, based off your options.
They must have put the wrong part number on the estimate sheet, that inspires a warm feeling my R53 has DSC.

Is there any way of finding out how commonly sold these modules are? It seems like such an expensive part to just shotgun at the problem. I know the BMW guys have had it rough with these modules taking a dump.

Seen them go every once in a while. Not really a common fail point but it does happen.

Check the toggle bank, do you have the ASC of DSC or take your Vin to BMW decoder and see what comes up. Also it should have been on the Window sticker from when the car was new, if you still have it.

So now I have a new issue following this issue. For the past 2 mornings like 9-10am I have went to start my car and had bad sputter, and struggle to get started..after it catches on it'll run normal. This all happened after a long trip I drove about 5 hours total Sunday. Does this also have to do with the battery? It is this a fuel/new issue?? Help!

Could be fuel, where did you get gas last time? And have you had the issue since refueling?

What sort of area have you been in? Sounds funny but examples: In this area of PA we have to watch out for squirrels and mice getting up under the hood of vehicles, in Bavaria, Germany it is the Marder (like a Weasel) once under the hood of your car they will chew on the wiring. I mention this, check out the wiring under the hood look for any sign or evidence of damage by rodents. (see image)

Best of luck.

Motor on!

I almost always fill up with Shell V Power here in Kansas its 91 is the highest we can get. I also usually add either seafoam or techtron fuel system cleaner so I am sure I didn't do anything different. I am wondering if it is possibly the fuel filter needing to be changed out?? I have just hit 126k and I dont think it has ever been changed as the last couple owned it was elderly and there is no records of this.

Many mini's have start issues spring and fall when the fuel changes to/winter and summer blends...after a couple tanks, the car adjusts....
Adding injector clean will LOWER your octane....it is usually carried in a light oil solvent, basicly a #1diesel fuel or jet fuel....using injector cleaner more than every 3000 miles frankly is a waste of $$ especially if using a decent premium fuel....

I think you are right! I filled it up again with the same Vpower and used a bottle of Seafoam. This morning he started right up! And I only use fuel cleaners, or system cleaners every 1-2k ill stretch it out to 3 now thanks for the help!

The previous owner before me had a very bad mice issue. They kept the MINI in there barn and didn't drive it much but oh man did those mice cause some damage. Alot of wiring had to be replaced/taped and salvaged from those little buggers

Yep, had it before twice also. Most insurance will cover it and the MINI dealership have the tools to rewire it.

Yea, if you have rodent damage check with your insurance first.

The bill gets $$$$ fast...
Remember, the splices need yo be soldered and shrink wrapped.... Moisture and salt can cause corrosion fast, so even replacing fullnlengths of wire can be a good option if you can rebuild the end plugs/connectors...

Check eBay for an entire ABS module. It comes with the ASC / DSC hydro unit attached to the side and is much cheaper than new part.
