Mirror Bubble

I have a 2006 MINI Cooper S with an auto dimming rear view mirror. The mirror has developed a "bubble". Has anyone seen or heard of this problem? I searched online but didn't find anything and called two dealer service departments - neither had heard of an issue like this. I did find some mention on some BMW forums about "the bubble" but wasn't sure if this was the same issue or not.

Any recommendations or suggestions appreciated.

Yea, happens sometimes for MINI, little rare to see. Think the autodim layer is separating from the front glass. The mirror for MINI and BMW share the same supplier.

Does not look like you have homelink ( garage door buttons on bottom ).

I had this happened to my 01 impala, it still worked, so I left it. I think you would have to replace the unit or take it apart and try and adhear the glasses back together

I have the same problem on my '04 MCS JCW. When the mirror does its auto dimming thing, the dimming doesn't dim the entire surface of the mirror, just the bubble.
