Just got back from Vancouver, BC

I saw about eight coopers while I was there for five days. It was a split between MC and MCS. Nothing too out of the ordinary except a black/black mcs that had another antenna and the clear taillights.

yaletown mini

i was in vancouver for two months in the spring and took my mcs in for an oil change to yaletown mini. amazing service, they gave me an mc for a loaner free of charge. very friendly, service oriented. puts southern california dealerships to shame.

The one thing about Vancouver is that it's so hard to make left turns there. A lot of streets don't have four way traffic lights.

What I've found about MINI yaletown service is well is that they are pretty mod-friendly as well  Glad you enjoyed our canadian hospitality.

The wierdest thing I found is that the right lane will suddenly become a parking lane without warning on certain roads. Its like that in most of Canada, though.

Yikes! Sounds more like Mexico than Canada!
The strangest turn situation I've ever encountered is in Melbourne, Australia. In Melbourne (and, here is the scary part, ONLY in Melbourne) to make a right turn (remember they drive on the left) you have to pull into the left hand side of the intersection. While waiting on the left of the intersection, you have to wait for the traffic coming the other way to clear AND you have to wait for the through traffic going your direction to clear, then you can make your right turn across both directions of traffic. Add in the pedestrians and light rail trains and you have a nightmare. Even other Aussies think it's insane.

I love driving in Canada though, very friendly people.

Cheers,

I found the drivers in Vancouver to be much the same as U.S. drivers. They like to pull out in traffic when making right turns, coming very close to the middle lane when doing so. And the minivan I rented was sideswiped while parked on E 49th street. The damage was from the rear taillight to the front driver side wheel. I heard the noise but didn't go outside because I looked out and didn't see anything. Luckily, I purchased insurance and I didn't have to involve my own insurance.

As far as lanes becoming parking, that sounds very familiar.

Hey there Manboy. You just missed the World Record breaking MINI event called the 'Longest MINI Dragon' around downtown Vancouver by one weekend, which is going on July 24th. Also, that weekend is the same as the Molson Indy for three days.
But yes, I agree with Yaletown as being kick a$$. That's where I got my MCS. After first checking out MINI-Richmond, and went over to Yaletown to compare. And found them to be way more better to deal with. By far the best dealership I've ever dealt with, and am still dealing with.
Cheers,

Yup, it's next weekend and if I remember correctly the Chinatown Merchants Association organized it. I think the current record is 172 minis and they want to exceed that.

I'll be there. I've also rented a MINI for my Mom for her birthday while we're there, so she can get the MINI driving experience for herself as well as take part in this event. Should be a wicked fun filled MINI/Mini day. Come on up again. Not totally sure what the record was for this event before, but we're going for 201. And I think last I heard it was around possible 180+ that'll be attending. Hope it works out.
Cheerio,

I lived in Seattle for 8 years, and have many friends in Vancouver. I agree that it is really annoying that they do not have left turn lanes! Gorgeous city though...
