Was that an option on these? Having never owned a vehicle with remote start, I don't know what to look for

Sometimes short and sweet is best!!
If the op's has it...it would be aftermarket...so a separate remote... Then would be obvious!!

No Remote Start :(

I wish it did especially when it dips to -30 but hey, these things warm up quick.

A local R56 owner had a top shelf remote start installed and he paid a premium for it too - $1600.

Yeah I was going to say, I don't think remote start was ever a factory option. That's quite the pricey aftermarket price :0

the 2nd gens require a separate modual to work with the push button start, that's why the 2nd gen is so expensive.

1st gen does not require this, but needs a clutch switch bypass to work, since we have to have the clutch depressed to start the car.

should be a lot cheaper for the first gen if needed to install

I went to three shops in my area. All of them told me that we CAN have remote start, but you will need to sacrifice a key fob and the module will cost around $1000. The total cost was around $1200 to $1400. :(
