Used purchase warranty question...
Hey everyone! I'm the proud new owner of an '06 R53, and I just registered after browsing here for a week or so. Can't wait to dive into the forums
!
Anyway, my question regards thoughts or opinions on my 30-day dealer warranty situation...
I bought the Mini with 3 previous owners/clean carfax/87k after my previous car was totaled after getting hit parked on the street in front of my house. Absolutely love the car as it's very clean and really solid, but after a week of ownership, I took the car back to the dealer with the throwout bearing noise I've researched elsewhere (ticking on idle when the clutch is disengaged). Dealer stated that it's a wear item, so it's not covered under the 30-day dealer warranty. I think that's fairly disingenuous since I'm the new owner and paid in full for the car.
I didn't bother arguing with them the first time, but I'm wondering whether anyone with dealer sales/warranty experience may think I have recourse to bust their chops (I previously worked in dealers, in service/parts, so I'm not too sure about the used car warranties, etc). I'm coming up on the end of my 30-days (I purchased a 3 yr Continental powertrain warranty on the car too), and maybe I can call and try to get them to take care of this. I get it's a wear item, but as the new owner, I figured I could get things like the throwout bearing taken care of if I had an issue. (The dealer hasn't been the easiest to deal with, but I'm sure we have all be there
!)
Huge thanks for any thoughts/insight, and glad to be aboard here on NAM!

What does your warranty say exactly? It should state what is covered and what is not. You may not be covered for a wear item in the clutch that has not fully "broken" unfortunately. It's unlikely that the powertrain warranty will cover it either.
A TO bearing is a wear item, that is exactly why they are replaced with the clutch.
