R50/53 A few issues with my Mini
A few issues with my Mini
Hey, everybody!
I've been a member for a while but, I haven't posted anything or uploaded any pics since I joined. Hopefully, the pictures I tried uploading twice will show up soon.
To get to the point, I have a minor issue with my 2003 R53. The airbag light has been on for some time despite not getting into an accident. The car was in an accident before my sister bought it in 2006 but, everything has been fixed since then.
Since I'm over 104k miles, I figure it's just one out of a few possible electrical issues. I have come here to try to get input from people who live with and have worked on Minis before.
What do you guys think?

I've read a few posts that said that, too. Only problem is that I don't think they put the occupancy sensors in until 2005/6 and I own a 2003.
Something tells me that it could even be a blown fuse. Then again, electrical issues are never simple.

Check the connections under the seats. Some earlier cars had really short wiring to the seat, when moved they either separate the connectors or cut he wires. You may want to disconnect the battery before messing around with those connections. Once you repair, the light needs to be reset with an SRS tool, or the stealer can do it... For a fee...
Another 2 cents...

I just swapped out very beat front seats and made sure to fully disconnect the battery before disconnecting the seat connections. My understanding is if the seats are disconnected with the battery still attached, once the connections are reconnected you may or will have the airbag light pop up and will need to be reset by a technician with the appropriate tool.
Mine went fine but had I not disconnected the battery I probably would have had the airbag light problem.
I would bet you need to have the sensor reset by your Mini dealer.
