Sooo this past summer I was traveling on a plane to Florida and happened to get my luggage lost in transit, containing of course the very important key to my car which brought me to the airport. So I had to call a close friend to get my spare from my house and deliver it an hour away to the airport as he laughed mockingly at me.

But anyways the point of this thread is to answer this; how can I get a new main key (with buttons) for my car without paying the dealer a ridiculous $275. I saw on ebay there are uncut keys that a merely shells and didn't know if there was a place to get internals for that or what to do?! If someone could help me out that'd be greatly appreciated.

 

In short - no. I suppose you could transfer the transponder chip from your valet key, but that still leaves you with only one key. So the airline lost the bag as in...forever?

 

Yup...suck it up and buy a key from the dealer.....
The eBay keys are only useful to transfer the guts from a working but cosmeticly ugly key....
Issue is getting the antitheft key from the eBay keys working with your car....

 

Some indy shops also have the box to initialise the 'blank' key. Also get you old key deleted from the car's memory, just in case.
