Clicking is driving me nuts!

Hi All

I have an 06 Cooper S with 90,000km on the clock, I have had it a year and done about 10,000km. Previous owner was an older lady and has always been well looked after.

Recently it has developed some noises when cornering. When I go round a right hand corner most times there is a loud click or thump that sounds like it is in or below the right door.

It sounds like there is something loose inside the door, but it doesn't make any noise going left. I thought I heard something a couple of times going over speed bumps, but it is hard to filter out over other noise. I opened the door and gave it a good shake back and forth but didn't hear anything.

The other noise is a clicking coming from the rear of the car, a different sound. Nearly always when going round a left hand corner but sometimes I get the same or very similar sound going round a right corner. It is a bit harder to pinpoint the sound, but I am pretty sure it is coming from under the car as I put the back seats down and it didn't make any difference to the volume.

I have had a look under the rear and can't see or feel anything loose.

I think both these noises started around the same time.

Car is RHD if that makes any difference.

You might check your sway-bar links. The ball joints tend to wear and the ball seems to dislocate with a pop as the load transfers.
