I am looking to install the JCW Carbon Fiber wing on my MINI. I have the S spoiler on it now. What I want to do is leave the S spoiler attached to the panel on the boot and take that panel off. I want to buy an R50 panel to mount the JCW wing on so I don't have to plug/cover the holes left by the S spoiler. Is it possible to replace just that panel or do I have to buy the entire boot lid? Also, is the R50 and R53 panel/boot lid the same? I have looked at RealOEM with no luck and searched the Forums.

 

Looking at RealOEM the trunk is the same part ! so if you replace it with an R50 you will find it will fit fine.


See if you can buy a second hand complete unit and get it resprayed, I have a 2002 R50 and am in the process of swapping it out with a 2005 MCS unit with the factory spoiler, all I will need to do is swap out the wiring once its finished and re attach the hinges and gas shocks.

 

Thank you! I've called around to the junk yards and they don't have a clue what I am after. I finally found a boot that the guy said was damaged on the bottom so he would take whatever I wanted off of it. It has the Union Jack on the part I need so it may be black underneath.

 

Cool, I was lucky to obtain an undamaged Boot but the wiring loom had been cut just inside of the roof so I will need to transfer the original harness when I swap the lids over. My mini is BRG where the boot I got from the wreckers is Blue with Silver so its just a case of stripping the paint back to respray it to match the car.
