Speaker issues.

2003 MCS R53

I installed a kenwood BT958HD
http://www.kenwood.com/usa/car/receiver/kdc-bt958hd/

All was working great but the passenger side stock door speaker blown.

Replaced them with Rockford Fosgate R165X3 Prime 6.5-Inch Full-Range 3-Way Coaxial Speaker
Amazon.com : Rockford Fosgate R165X3 Prime 6.5-Inch Full-Range 3-Way Coaxial Speaker - Set of 2 : Vehicle Speakers : Car Electronics Amazon.com : Rockford Fosgate R165X3 Prime 6.5-Inch Full-Range 3-Way Coaxial Speaker - Set of 2 : Vehicle Speakers : Car Electronics

install went smooth used
(yellow/Red) as positive
(Yellow/Brown) as negative.

But im getting little to absolutely no bass. I know these are not comp speakers and entry level but still should get something. Sound is nice and crisp.

I made my own spacers Do you all feel this could have anything to do with it?

Im also thinking about pulling them back out and switching the wiring just to see if that helps any at all.

right now the back stock still out power the fronts on bass.

thanks for any advice in advance...

I have one blown H-K speaker and looking for either a good replacement or another H-K speaker. Are these a direct replacement or was some fab work required? Spacers shouldn't affect the bass as long as it still uses the same volume on the back side of the speaker.

It could be reverse polarity at the speaker and the lower tone is being cancled from the other speakers. Could be a filter in the head unit that is set too.

Did you check the fade between the front and the back speakers…. The back speakers will give you all the bottom you want (Well… within reason) 6.5 coaxial speakers won't give you a ton of bass either way.. they're meant to run with bass speakers or a sub..
