2005 JCW Cooper S To Get HP Increase

There has been a report from Motoringfile that the new 2005 JCW will boost the MCS to 210-220 HP. The think that I can't belive is that it is $500+ install.

$500 That has to be an error as the current JCW is $5000.

Ok Nevermind...In the excitment I missed the "current owners of JCW

Nevermind

It is an additional $500 for the the current owners to get the part (what ever it is) modified to get the extra 10-20 hp (19% pulley? - total speculation on my part).

Also, no word on what the 2005 JCW kit pricing will be. So it's only $500 extra dollars if you already spent the $5000 plus install. But there is nothing out there to say the new kit price for 2005 couldn't go up to $6000. Or that it might be unchanged (i.e. if they are making changes to parts already being replaced by the current JCW kit). My guess is MINI wouldn't give you 10-20 extra hp at no additional cost though.

jcw upgrade

what i heard recently from a jcw owner is that the new kit consists of a cold air intake and ecu remap for the additional hp

More ponies is always good. But come on. That damn kit costs enough already. Another $500! Ridiculous. The dealership that I go to throws in a K&N Typhoon intake with the JCW kit if you go through them. So that's kinda nice and worth some extra kick. So if it's the intake that's the only deal that's kicking it up, than the extra cost isn't really needed in my case when I get the kit installed. Guess we'll be awaiting confirmation on whether or not it is just that for the extra hp.
Cheers,

My dealer said the JCW kit installed is 5800 and puts the hp to 215 on an 05.

It's only speculation, I guess, but I talked to my MA about the enhanced JCW kit, and he's under the impression that the more powerful kit will be available for MY2005 MCS and later. If he's right, MY2004 and earlier MCS will continue to be fitted with the current 200hp kit. The explanation was that MY2005 MCS are equipped with a different supercharger and ECU. The supercharger angle doesn't make sense to me, since it gets swapped out anyway. As for the ECU, is there anything different about the 2005 version, other than mapping, that would preclude a 2004 from getting the same JCW upgrade as a 2005?

As Dave said before the new kit is NOT $500. The $500 refers to what (supposedly) is the cost for current owners of the kits to upgrade to get the extra hp.

I'm sure prices will be very similar to the current kit - that being said nothing has been released yet.
