MINI n a wedding
Has anyone used their new MINI in a wedding. I was wondering If i'd be the first? July3rd '04 MY wife and I will strut away in our MINI instead of a Limo. I'll post pics when we get back from the honey moon in italy!
Congratulations!
Marriage should do wonders for you
and provide lots of extra cash for all of life's pleasures

I saw a classified ad posted in Boston this spring from a couple to be married who were offering money for use of a MINI Cooper for them to drive in from the wedding to the reception. I thought about it, but decided against it!
Congrats, chollomo!

Don't know about a MINI, but as for a classic Mini, one of my employees was driven from the church to her reception in her dad's classic. She told me that he actually removed the front passenger's seat so that she could sit in the back with nothing in front of her. Apparently this was necessary to fit in the whole dress and associated stuff (not being female, I don't know what to call this "stuff"...but I understand some brides have quite a lot of it
) Congratulations!
mgcman... marriage brings "lots of extra cash"??? For how long?

I drove the groom to a wedding last Friday here in Vegas. The bride originally wanted to ride in the MINI but could barely fit in the Subaru with the huge dress.
I originally planned on driving up to the ceremony (Narragansett Town Beach, Narragansett, RI) in my MINI, but now that I'll be selling it for an '05, I doubt that I will have it in time
Oh well, guess I'll have to hitch a ride in the Rolls taking everybody else...

MINIs don't have trunks, only boots.
And it was a borrowed dress, quite expensive, and we would have been in a lot of trouble if we had ruined it. Anyway, I'm sure that riding in the boot the way I drive would NOT be fun!

Cool.. well my finacees dress (tho I don't know what it looks like, but I know her tastes) so it should fit just fine in ouw MINI. I'm a little worried about them decorating the car.. I dont' care if they do, jsut don't want anythign on the insid e and nothign permenent on the outside... for instance my aunt is so stupid, that at my moms wedding she used toothpaste on my mom car... people knew she was "Just MArried" for quite awhile.
I wanted to drive into the sunset in the MINI for my wedding on the 17th of July, but we decided that all the wedding party couldn't fit into it (or could they????) and we want all of them to have some fun.

well our wedding party is 14 strong so I doubt we could all fit in their.. I've only fit half ot that at one time-> 7 people.. and that was really tight, we just had to go a few miles tho thank goodness. but if you have less than 7 in your party and your not all big boys/girls it would be tottally do able.

Nervous?
Seeing that there are seemingly quite a few of us getting hitched this summer, some, sooner than others, how are the nerves doing?
Since I still have a couple of months, I'm holding up OK, but every once in a while it hits me, and I get a little hot under the collar and flush... yikes... getting *gulp* married? Oooo, big step...
My fiancees bridal shower was this past weekend. That was definitely one of thoes moments...

speaking of weddings....so madam treasurer and I trek to good ole England to my best friend's daughter's wedding....well....guess what....SHE CALLED IT OFF.... I am SOOOO impressed with this young lady.......wedding of the century in the works for over a year.....and she decides, no, it ain't the thing to do....so she calls it off....the b.lls!!! We will have a celebration to her character and gumption (plus a wake for the dead marriage) on the day instead......
double bonus.....saved me a BIG cash gift.........
That means a new set of race tires, at least, for the ole MINI.

nice.. how are my nerves?... well, shaky at best! :0 but I think I'm holding up quite nicely. I think the hardest thing about getting married is figuring what the new married you is going to be like... especially if you really like the old you! It's quite an identity crisis and it's truly the only thing I'm nervous about, that and rain on the wedding day since its an outdoor wedding on a beach. and to the chap pocketrocketowner, glad to see you all are surviving the call off, that's wild and she does have big kahunas for calling off. I heard a report on npr the other day that said men while less prone to being committed, when they do DECIDE to commit to a marriage that are in it for the long haul, whereas women are shaky deciders even though they *think* they want, need, or must have a marriage. The lowest ratings for lifetime commitment is men who are pressured into getting married as opposed to actually deciding to get married and buying the ring etc.. etc.. men who are pressured feel they have made the wrong decision and eventually give up. *that makes me feel better because my engagement was a total surprise.* cheers everyone, sorry to here I won't be the first, but glad to see I'm not the only one who find sit totally appropriate to have a mini as the wedding vehicle of choice.

Well, my fiancee and I had our bachelorette and bachelor parties this past weekend. Well, party on Saturday, recovery on Sunday.
(two MINIs present) and We will be getting married a week from Saturday.
No nerves yet. But to be fair, we have been living together for a year, and have a joint bank account, so I don't suspect that much will change. We don't have time for a MINI honeymoon, as we are going to Newfoundland, but We'll be embarking on a cross-country trip next summer.
I just hope the guys don't put shaving cream all over the car.
