New Cravenspeed Registers Different Level Than Original Dipstick

I just got a Cravenspeed dipstick so I wouldn't worry about my original stick breaking off in my '03 S. My old stick indicated that the level was down about 1/4 quart, but the Cravenspeed showed it to be full. I took multiple readings and even laid the new stick on a paper towel to verify the reading. Has anyone else seen the same thing? I'd really like to feel confident in the new, expensive dipstick without having to compensate for the variation. Thoughts? Thanks!
