Window regulator not working

My window only does down an inch or two, then stops. I can’t see why it’s doing this, even with an inspection mirror.

Can someone shed some light on how this thing works?

Thanks!

Both my windows get stuck up sometimes and pounding the door above the speaker a few times while flipping the switch gets it to go down every time. However, once it starts moving, it goes all the way without any more pounding.

You could try pounding yours, but sounds like something else might be going on since it moves a little and then stops.

Your motor could be on its way out, it may work with the like mention above and it could last for a long time or not, in some cases some members were able to open the motor and clean it, in my case I pound it a few times for about a month then it got stuck in the up position, the. Good and bad about that is the you can drive the car until you can fix it, the bad is that if you were to fix it you will have to cut the cables from the regulator in order to be able to lower the window half way to take out the holding pegs that support the glass to the regulator in that case you have to buy a motor and a regulator close to 300.00 online.

There is a special tool for about 26.00 from Outmotoring that will meek the job easier when the glass is up by removing the chrome trim on top.

Try the fonzzy method and choose your options it will buy you some time good luck

This a good guide from our friends at Pelican parts

For what it's worth, mine's been getting stuck periodically for at least 3 years now, and the pounding to get it going has worked every time. I'm hoping I never have to replace the regulator...
