Touch-Up Paint

I took ANOTHER rock to the bonnet yesterday!!! This one took off a nice chip of paint all the way down to the metal, which looks horrible on a black car (Astro Black Metallic).

Anybody know of a good, relatively easy way to touch-up these little eyesores?

Thanks.

Dr color chip supposed to be really good. No personal experience with it myself though.

Dr. Color Chip is really good. Once you get used to working with it, you can almost make those eyesores completely disappear!

I use factory (dealership) touch-up paint. Instead of a brush use a tooth pick. The trick is to get paint only inside the chip and none on the good paint surrounding the chip. Give the first coat plenty of time to dry and then apply again, as necessary, finishing with a coat of clear. A little buff and polish and only you will know it's there.

and

to do this right you apply the color (base) then top with clear - so you need to buy both

never apply with the brush in the cap. go to an art supply and invest a few dollars in a VERY fine paint brush - 00 or finer - and some spirits for brush cleaning

** this assumes the chip is small enuf for a brush fix**

i found some "sparkly" black paint (forget which kind exactly, but there should be only 1 or 2 that are "sparkly") at walmart (touch up paint) that is pretty close. i use it for all those tiny chips in the bumper. look fair enough, its pretty close to the right black, and has some metal flake in it. it works enough for $6 if you cant wait.
