Is it necessary to pull both the engine & trans

To get the Aisin 6spd out of an 05 R53? I have the blown seal and am eyeing removing the transmission this weekend and was told the trans comes out with the engine attached! OK if it does, just trying to get a handle on the project if I am to proceed. Any help would be appreciated. A friend of mine will do the rebuild and we are currently looking for the parts necessary. Any lead to the availability of parts is also key in starting this project. Thanks

if you only plan on only dropping the trans. it will come out without the engine out. i believe the subframe can stay in aswell. position the car highest you can on jack stands and get to work its gonna be tedious but you can do it.

You can leave the engine in but you have to drop the subframe if you leave the engine in. The clutch replacement tutorial on pelican parts can help you with the removal. I used it to do my clutch and boy was that one involved job. Tip: use a cherry picker to hold the transmission when reinstalling and or removing, a transmission jack helps but is a bit clumsy.

Maybe you could do it without dropping the subframe but why? Removing the subframe will be the easiest part of the whole job. +1 on the Pelican guide, it was my bible when I did my R52 clutch and my sons R50 clutch.
