R50/53 Powder-coat touch-up?
While washing my MCS today I noticed about a four-inch area where the podercoat has flaked off my L front wheel (17 inch run-flat). The odd thing is it isn't rough like where I dinged the R rear on a pot-hole last winter. It just seems to be flaking off like a bad spray job on old steel wheels. Anybody seen this happen before? Any fixes? I did a quick search and it seems the only advice for powder coat has been to have the whole wheel redone or use Tester's Silver enamel as a band aid.
Not sure about that. Sounds like a factory paint flaw.
I had a guy back into one of my 17" s-lites and scratch it up so I took to a body shop. They said they would not repaint any factory wheels so insurance is replacing it. Now I have a full size spare
I would take your wheel to the dealer and complain.

gnhovis,
For a time I was doing BMW and NISSAN lease end inspections and paint warranty claim inspections part time to augment my income. I'll clue you in on what they will look for in approving a paint failure warranty claim. The whole process usually is much more complex than you might think, but what you describe is an adhesion problem.
The test that the inspector will make is putting a piece of 2 inch masking tape over the peeling area and pull it off. If a significant patch of paint comes off with the tape it will be approved for warranty recoating.
Hope this helps,
