Our local MINI of MountainView dealer told me that they do not have any touch-up paint. Something about California is currently stopping these from shipping into California because of something in the 'content' of the touch-up paint. Anyone run across this too ? And anyone in California find an alternate source ?

(I guess I could always order it from another non-California MINI place, but the shipping would probably be the same price as the touch-up paint itself. )

 

I doubt that - touch-up paint was $18.43 from my MINI dealer and its a pretty small package. It can't cost much to ship.

 

I got mine from Classic MINI.

I know Cali has some pretty interesting laws when it comes to prodcuts that may cause cancer, hence the disclaimer on many products that state "CA has cuased this product to cause cancer." Because of this many prdocuts require an additional MSD for shipment to CA. Now I am not saying that MINI touch-up paint causes cancer, but I wouldn't be supprised that somehting in it when exposed to for a very long time or amount, may cuase health issues.

My advices is to buy it from of the sites mentioned above.

 

Thats actually what the guy told me. That they had to put some warning about possible cancer causing agent, etc. and it wasn't on by default, so they have to do some relabelling before they can ship them to CA. :

 

Interesting.... I did a look up for 2006, MINI Convertible, but CHILLI RED is not listed there. I had to chose Hatchback to get Chilli Red.

Weird.
