R50/53 Cannot adjust seat height

Cannot adjust seat height
Seat height adjuster seems to be jammed. Suspect a broken plastic cam assembly. Unsuccessful in locating a replacement part. Mini wants $800 for new seat base assembly. Any suggestions?

Here is a picture of the seat and what comes with it, you can see the front lever area where it jams up. Can it go up or down, or just in one position ? With the link above and the pictures below you can determine what the problem is.
