Exhaust drone modulation/warble

I'm getting a strange warble with the exhaust drone in 6th gear. I believe one of my rear tires is out of balance or has a flat spot, as I can feel it. However, this seems to also create a strange modulated warble in the exhaust drone, similar to having two cars with loud exhausts next to each other on the highway. It's a fairly obnoxious sound, and could probably be solved by a tire balancing, but I'm curious to know if anyone else has experienced this.

Perhaps the heat shield or exhaust hanger is slightly loose?

It's not really a buzzing sound but more of a deep warbling drone, that goes along with the tire rotation. Having the tires balanced would be a very cheap fix, but I'm only a few months out from needing a new set anyways.

You sure it's not a wheel bearing?

Seems possible. I should probably throw it up on some jacks and give them a wiggle. It doesn't get worse when turning, but maybe that's not always a good indication.
