R50/53 BBK options?
BBK options?
Hey guys im looking for a BBK since i dont actually have JCW brakes, normal S
theres been a few enthusiastic drives where ive been wanting a bit more stopping power+ much less fade. a few hill climbs ive done, and coming down im surprised i havent melted these rotors.
i may need to get some 16'' rims for the winter
but what do you guys suggest? i have seen a wilwood all around set for $1800
the wheels also need to be filled, the ultra leggeras dont look as nice when they have tiny brakes behind them
i have been heavilly contemplating the poor mans JCW kit
goal is also to have floating rotors to help with rotational mass

Most BBK KITS NEED 17" rims....
So decide before you get your winter rims...your options are pretty limited if you want to still run 16" rims...Wildwood, breakman, and TSW all have kits...each has their Advantages....
Sure folks will chime in...
I suggest you try better pads first...maybe cooling ducts...then jump to a bbk if you still are smoking you pads....

Also, don't sweat the rear. You don't really need a larger rotor back there.
With 16 inch wheels the JCW (2nd gen S standard brakes) is a good cheap way to go or ToddTCE's wilwoods would be tempting.

thanks keep it up! right now im trying get some snows, i found some 17's i can mount to my S lites and i also have 17s on the ultraleggeras
i wasnt sure on the braking bias on our cars, so just slotted/drilled rotors for the rear and new pads all around

Think it is called something like BIG DIRTY MOTHER F#$KER.....
the rotor has 1 inch vents... Very thick...very impressive...but you can't run typical 15" rims...really make for non oem offset, wide track rims....

this is the 2nd place where you dont skimp.... tires being the other
but im not spending 3k+ for brembos
i also dont know how the 2nd Gen S brakes compare to willwood/DT/TSW/RMW

You can get a full FOUR wheel kit for as little as $1618 today guys. To your door.
While that kit may not be exactly what you want...other flavors with options don't drive the price up horribly. In fact it's pretty tough to actually break $2k. Ok..by $38 top banana.
I tend to disagree that rear rotors are not necessary. I see many benefits in them and so have others (why we've sold so many of them in the TCE rotor kit- also a further option well under the $1600 price point yet) The rear rotors are simply to small for track use. It's less about the car needing more rear brake but the lack of rotor mass. Many a track user has found their boiled fluid problems to be the rear! Scrap the track pad options for durability and just add both mass and diameter. Your car will be happy, your pads (stock) happy and your foot. Of course if you do the full kits your eyes also...
