R50/53 2006 base Mini DPSM sound system
2006 base Mini DPSM sound system
Has anyone "bypassed" the DPSM amp and system and turn the system back to a stock sound system? Mine is doing the crackling thing and needs the amp replaced. I don't want to drop the dollars for the amp but would be satisfied with a "regular" radio system in the car.
I did some searching in a few different forums about this topic. This topic seems to be a topic from the past where people were having problems with the system. The car I bought just happened to have this system in it and decided to start the crackling two weeks after I bought it. I would be happy with just a regular radio system in the car. I would like to know if anyone has done something like what I am asking without removing the DPSM system. Thanks for any help.

Someone identified the failing chip inside the DPSM amp and figured out how to bypass it:
