[Need Help] Interpreting Torque app / finding gas mileage issues

So I found out I'm averaging 24 mpg.
Maybe this is normal but i was under the impression that it should be about 28. So I got a bluetooth dongle, and am using torque free for now, but anyhow i was looking at it and from what i know everything seems fine.

Does the pro torque app auto log EVERYTHING? or can i save a custom list, as the free one resets my "PID LOGS" list everytime to defaults. frustrating.

Anyhow o2 bank 1 sensor 1 was bouncing from .1-.7 mostly and occasionally .8
o2 bank 1 sensor 2 was stuck at .8 then dropped to .1 and would go back and forth slowly and occasionally.

are there other sensors? o2 bank2 didnt seem to give any data to me.

Fuel trim was right at 0 +- .5 the entire time. (this sounds really good from what i read)

Anyone know of a place that explains these figures really well, in layman terms? I'm an electrician but engines are new to me really, in terms of fuel trim etc...

If i could reclaim 4 mpg i would be set.

I'm in england, so i believe stock it gets 32+ american (40+ british)
(that may be r50?)

How many miles on the car? You'd probably get some mileage back with a tuneup ie spark plugs, air filter, etc.

You only have 2 o2 sensors...
"Bank 2 sensors/sensor " would be on a v6/v8.....

Lower mpgs are often the result of a number of things...
Wide tires...wider than the 195 stock S , and heavy rims both impact mpg's....
As do actual diameter....many mini's run wider , slightly non OEM tire sizes.
As for o2 sensors....good for about 100,000 miles...then they get lazy...and the computer will eventually toss a code....

And looking at your mpg...."england" Using imperial gallons....complicates things...
But 32 is RARE....I can hit it all interstate, cruise only (long trip, full tank, close/slight under the speed limit..no fun really)... With low rolling resistance tires...in 195/185 width ( I keep a 2 sets of 15's around...one winter set, and another all season set for spring/fall, leaving my summers for...er...summer..lol)....
But stock us mpg is usually low/mid 20's....
So 25 ish on non ethonl fuel is right on....
I do average closer to 28 with a custom tune and mods......but that is a different story...

Fuel trim is just an adaptation the computer does....from stock programing....
It is added/subtracted fuel from the stock maps based upon o2 sensor data...
So let's say you are using e-10 fuel (like in the us) the fuel trims would show +2% or so to make up for the extra VOLUME/WEIGHT of fuel needed to get the same btu's injected to make power....
Same for mods....so no issues with your numbers.
Mini's have NEVER been mpg champs for their size...not gen1 cars...look at the vertical windshield....that tells the story...and a car with a sc must be run rich so keep the motor safe from detonation.....so a low tech cast iron block, lack of aerodynamics, and heavy car....

The o2 sensors in a mini is an older type....
Not a "wideband" , just a preheated o2 sensor....
So only info to the computer is too rich or too lean....computer calculates it all...
Newer cars have wideband sensors....can say based on voltage how rich....

Thank you, and thank you all.

I'm wondering what i can do to improve it to 27.

I get 24, don't have anything crazy, still on 195 tires. are you saying i should drop them some?

Otherwise my numbers seem pretty good.

Boost is there, but it's definately stock.

I drive 40 miles one way to work. 13 of it is on a two lane highway with a couple twisties and lots of elevation, the rest is interstate. So 98% highway, 80 miles a day, right. In my area traffic moves along at 65 to 70 mph, and I usually go with the flow.

2005 MCS with Alta CAI, and Screamin' Deamon coil pack, otherwise stock.

I run 92 octane Chevron, have stock size 17" wheels/tirrs, and 5/30 Castrol full synthetic. Best tank I ever got was when I calculated at the pump 29.7 mpg. Being severely addicted to the sound of my supercharger, that may have been the most difficult thing I've ever done! -Having to consciously think about the position of my right foot every time I get in the car is excruciating. This was durring the week following when I replaced my sparkplugs (stock NGK Laser Platnums). -I just had to see how good I could do.

Really 26 to 28.5 is more common for me, the lower numbers turned up when my hours at work switched a little, and i get lots of creeping along at 15mph in bumper to bumper kinds of traffic. If I have a tank which includes a spirited run on the weekend, 23 or 24mpg I think was the lowest I've had in my car.

BTW, I believe (and may be wrong) that a lot of the "Hwy 32 MPG etc" figures we read about are those describing what they see on their trip computer display. I see that kinda number too, 70mph, level ground, light or no wind, ya... 40mpg highway. I always calculate at the pump to get an accurate number.

Here is a cheap option you might want to try:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ni-viagra.html

Seafoam treatment in the tank as well as into the intake system (different SF Product) might be worth it as well. $20 worth of Seafoam and resetting the ECU might give you some tangible improvement in performance and MPG.
