R50/53 Would 2005 hid headlight fit 2003??
If it is the same model then yes i believe so, but i'm not an expert, one way to find out is find new ones on a website and check "compatibility" with a 2005 and a 2003 :D
My only concern would be connectors, make sure the wiring is the same, if you are going from halogen to xenon's be sure that can do that.

Edit: I misunderstood your question, then I read your other post, BlownAway has some great advice.
Anyhow yeah, if you already have factory HIDs, and your going to stick with OEM HIDs, then finding a post-face-lift car (like 2005) is the way to do it!.
You're so lucky, I have factory halogens, converting to HIDs is a bear for me, but for you to upgrade to later model /projector style should be fairly painless.

Again don't quote me but yes, I believe all the 1st gen housing "fitment" is the same, just the internals are different between pre/post facelift, so if you could find a complete set with ballasts & igniters you should be ok, hopefully even the plugs are the same.
If they don't come with igniters & ballast your first step should be to verify wheather the power from your headlight plug is 12v (11.6 or so) or not, this will tell you what your options really are.

The HID light is actually a Gas Light, hence the need for the ballast and igniter. They use much less power than the traditional tungsten/halogen element type of light.
I've heard the wiring harness between halogen and xenon factory set ups on a mini is different as well.
Yes they will bolt up....
Wiring is a different story...
There are some"added" parts you need to install as noted above....
The transformer, a $$$ part...and the right wiring...
At one point mini made a adaptor harness if I remember right, but would be pretty simple to make....just remember avoid cutting on the car side wiring...and solder and shrink wrap all splices...
Then you have the headlight washers....guess you could leave those disconnected....
Then the auto leveling system on the xenon's.... All euro xenon's have them...sensor would be added in the left rear (I think), and wiring run....not sure if this can be skipped...the headlights have small stepper motors that air the headlights at startup based on the cars loading....
Not sure if programing would be involved....
Bet theremight be a thread on how too ...use Google site search....
