Hey all, got a P0138 code this morning, the car died and then started up fine. Went to get the CEL checked and it was the P0138 code, I can see that it's a oxygen sensor, the thing is that I got my one-ball mod done yesterday so I think it can be related to the code.

For you who don't now what the one-ball mod is, it's basically taking out the right ball out of your exhaust system.

The code says that the sensor can be a failure or there's a short at the sensor.

Any input anyone?

 

Check the wires on it....maybe it got bent/broken/unplugged when they were working on the exhaust....

 

I was getting a weird sensor code after having some work done, almost rdy to buy a new sensor when I noticed a portion of the aluminum heat shield was simply bumped up against the wires of the sensor, when pushed away code was gone.

I read off this forums and I see that some 05/06 Cooper S got extended warranty on the oxygen sensor (10 yrs 100k miles)? Can someone confirm this for me, I cant call the dealer since it's closed now and wont be open till Monday.
